I am very particular when it comes to choosing items for my boards. If it is not fresh and perfect, it will not make the cut. Each week I am in search for the freshest grapes. As I tell my friends and family, a good board always starts with the BEST grapes. The grapes start to tell the story, and everything else falls into place to create a picture-perfect board that is sure to please. Some of my favourite places to shop are Farm Boy, Longo’s, the Cheese Boutique, & Grande Cheese. When I am able, a trip down to St Lawrence Market to visit local vendors is a favourite activity of mine. My finishing touch on every board is the fresh sprigs of rosemary and I do not think I have ever seen better rosemary than from the market. Support your local farmers and businesses.
The Jellies and spreads on my board are quite popular as well. I have developed a wonderful friendship with Yawdi’s. Not only do they make some of the best jellies I have ever had, but they are also a Canadian company and one I am super proud to support. You will enjoy Yawdi’s Pineapple Pepper, Red Bell Pepper and Lavender Pepper Jellies on every board as well as their mustards.
Cheese please! I get creative and love unique cheese 😊 Just never know what cheese will be featured on your board. All boards will have a variety of cheese – Brie, Blue, Goat, Irish, Scottish, Old, Bourasin, Cheddars, Smoked Aged, and yes you can substitute. Large board orders will also feature a “special cheese” and one that I find will best suit the others on the board.
How about some Honey with that brie? You will enjoy a small jar of Ritchwood Honey, on all boards. Located in Bruce-Saugeen Townline, Liz and her brothers Bill & Dave take extraordinary pride in their honey production. They provide the bee colonies with the nutrition and care that is needed to maintain their colony year-round.
